These stunning changes will be broken down into smaller projects and worked on every week over the days no weddings are held. This will ensure each wedding day, the restaurant and grounds are looking amazing for everyone to enjoy.
These enhancements are being led by the incredible Ky Drury who is an experienced designer and stylist with notable work such as The Grove, Mez Club and The Loft in Byron Bay. Ky, who also owned The Grove (which was a prestigious wedding venue) has an extensive background in the wedding industry herself.
A note from our designer:
Hi my name is Ky Drury, I am a local Interior Designer and Building Consultant bringing both venues and homes to life in the Byron area. Che and the team at Fig Tree have engaged with me to weave some magic into the grounds for the upcoming weddings and beyond. My primary focus is to enhance the pool surrounds and courtyard/garden area in front of the restaurant, something we know will lift the entire venue. I have worked with Che over the years on a number of projects and I am super excited to sink my teeth into this.
My background is primarily in design and construction, my husband (the builder) and I have also previously owned a wedding venue, you may have heard of it, The Grove Byron Bay. We sold the property 16 months ago, and have returned to our roots of building the dreams, not running them – we leave this to the experts. Owning this property was where my love of weddings and entertaining really flourished. It takes a lot of planning to make the day run smoothly and when the venue is purpose-built to host all stages of the day and evening, it’s the ultimate success story. I have also been fortunate enough to be invited to design, and project manage the construction of other venues in town, namely The Loft and The Mez Club. Che gave me a very clear brief of what he envisions at the Fig Tree:
– The venue needs to remain relaxed and humble yet incorporate some resort style elements such as large conversation pit style daybeds placed around the pool as this would take both the visual and flow of the venue up a level.
– An update of all the external aesthetics, in general, will be planned for. Keeping in with the remaining tones of the property to continue the creation of an aesthetic that marries perfectly with all wedding themes.
– An olive grove is also being introduced. This is an aspect that will enhance the farm-let vibe that Fig Tree has always been known for. Imagine going for a stroll with your closest, sipping champagne on sunset through the orchard, whilst listening to the acoustic music all under the encompassing command of the jaw-dropping Fig Tree.
We can’t wait to bring this vision to life.
